To get more Airbnb bookings, first get more clicks: a stronger cover photo, five great opening photos and a clear title. Then turn those clicks into bookings with fair pricing, flexible minimum stays, fast replies and good reviews. Finally, bring in guests from outside Airbnb with short videos on Instagram and TikTok. Most listings that struggle have a photo problem before they have a price problem.
Why are you not getting bookings?
Look at your listing stats in Airbnb's performance tab. They tell you where guests drop off:
| What you see | What it usually means | Fix first |
|---|---|---|
| Few views | Low ranking or unappealing cover photo | Cover photo, title, price |
| Views but few clicks | Photos do not stand out in search | First five photos |
| Clicks but few bookings | Something in the listing puts people off | Photos of every room, price, rules, reviews |
| Bookings only at weekends | Weekday guests are not finding you | Weekly discounts, remote-work features |
1. Change your cover photo
The cover photo is your advert in search results. Use your single best feature, shot wide and bright. A dusk exterior or a living room with warm lamps often stands out in a sea of flat daytime shots.

2. Make the first five photos count
Guests decide in the first five. Show the best feature, the living space, the main bedroom, the kitchen and the outdoor space, in that order. See our photo order guide.
3. Fix dark, cluttered or crooked photos
Brighten every room, straighten the walls, remove clutter and replace grey skies. It takes minutes with AI, and dark photos are the most common reason good homes get ignored. Here is how to edit Airbnb photos.
4. Write a title that says why to book
Lead with what makes the stay special and who it suits: "Sea-view flat with balcony, 2 min to beach" beats "Lovely 2-bed apartment".
5. Price for the calendar, not the season
Use Airbnb's price tips or a dynamic pricing tool, and lower weekday prices before you lower weekend ones. Check what similar listings nearby charge on the same dates.
6. Loosen your minimum stay
Two-night minimums leave single gaps. Allow one-night stays to fill orphan nights between bookings.
7. Turn on Instant Book
Many guests filter for it, and it can help ranking.
8. Reply within an hour
Response rate and speed affect both ranking and conversion. Use saved replies for common questions.
9. Add weekly and monthly discounts
Remote workers and long-stay guests fill weekdays. Mention fast Wi-Fi and a desk in your photos and title.
10. Get the first reviews
New listings need early reviews. Price a little lower for the first few stays and ask happy guests to leave a review.
11. Bring in guests from social media
This is where most hosts stop, and where you can get ahead. A 20 second video of your place on Instagram or TikTok reaches people who are not searching Airbnb yet.
You do not need to film. Turn your listing photos into a video tour with camera moves, music and a link to book. See how to make an Airbnb video tour.
12. Build a direct booking audience
Collect guest emails (where the platform's rules allow), post regularly and send past guests a seasonal video. Repeat guests who book direct save you fees. Our vacation rental marketing ideas covers this.
