Sized for the portal. Light enough to upload.

Each photo is scaled so its long edge fits the size you choose (it is never enlarged), optionally centre-cropped, then saved as a JPG. With a file-size limit, the quality is lowered step by step until the photo fits, and the size is reduced only if it still does not. Saving a new JPG leaves out EXIF metadata, including GPS location from phones.

Portals and MLS boards set their own rules. Many recommend landscape photos around 2048 pixels wide and limit each file to a few megabytes; check yours before uploading. Labels such as “Virtually staged” are drawn onto the photo, which many MLS boards and California’s AB 723 now expect for altered images. Keep your original files.

What size should real estate listing photos be?

Most portals and MLS systems ask for landscape JPGs at least 1024 pixels wide, and many recommend around 2048 pixels on the long edge. File limits vary by system, commonly a few megabytes per photo. Check your portal or MLS rules, then use the matching preset here.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens in your browser on your own device. The photos are never sent to Splatr or anyone else.

Does it remove GPS and camera data?

Yes. Each photo is redrawn and saved as a new JPG, which leaves out the EXIF metadata, including any GPS location. Keep your originals if you need that data.

Can I label virtually staged photos?

Yes. Choose “Virtually staged” or write your own label, and it is drawn onto each exported photo. Local rules on disclosure differ, so check what your MLS, portal or regulator expects.

How many photos can I resize at once?

Up to 60 photos per batch, each up to 40 megapixels. Download them one by one or as a single ZIP file.
