Use the coverage on your paint tin.
Enter the total wall or ceiling surface area to paint—not the floor area. Subtract openings if appropriate. Paint needed = area × coats ÷ coverage per litre × (1 + allowance ÷ 100). Whole tins are rounded up after the allowance. Litres are used for paint volume in both area-unit modes.
The filled-in values are examples, not a product recommendation. Use the manufacturer’s coverage and advice for your surface or laying pattern. This is a preliminary materials estimate; it excludes labour, delivery, taxes and other supplies. A waste allowance is not a contingency for hidden work. Currency labels do not convert prices.

How much paint do I need for a room?
Work out the wall area (the room’s perimeter times its height, minus doors and windows), multiply by the number of coats and divide by the coverage on the tin. Most emulsions cover about 10–13 m² per litre per coat.
How many coats of paint should I use?
Usually two coats for walls, and more when covering a strong colour or bare plaster. Check the manufacturer’s guidance.
Should I include the ceiling?
Only if you are painting it, usually with a different paint. Tick “Include ceiling” to add the floor area of the room as ceiling area.
Try the colour on a photo first.
